Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA pt 1: Aides (CITs) leading a tour

I recently visited Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, a camp I’ve known and loved for years, and left feeling deeply inspired.

During my time at Chimney Corners, I had the privilege of getting a tour from two Aides (their CIT program). It’s hard to express how much I love being shown around by future leaders. They were still finding the words to describe their experience, but their enthusiasm and love for the camp came through so clearly.

From the new signage to the barn filled with decades of camper and Aide history, every detail spoke to the depth of tradition and impact this place holds.

What stuck with me the most was when I asked the Aides about their favorite value. They both, without hesitation, said AGAPE “living a life of unconditional love for all.” They shared how this value made them think differently about their interactions with the world with such sincerity.

They also talked about how much they look up to the camp’s leadership, a reminder that a director’s presence matters more than we often realize. Well done, Shannon, Abbot, and Amy.

Thank you to the entire Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA team for hosting me!
