YMCA Camp Chingachgook: Outdoors and Mentorship

I’ve had the privilege of spending time twice this summer with YMCA Camp Chingachgook. Each visit has been a reminder of what makes camp powerful.

With the stunning backdrop of Lake George and the Adirondacks, Chingachgook integrates nature into the experience. Boating, backpacking trips, and intentional time outdoors are part of the core program.

But just as important is the work happening within the camp team. We’ve focused on building a strong mentorship model for staff.

It’s well known: camp staff make or break the camper experience. And more than ever, staff are asking great questions, seeking guidance, and wanting to provide campers with a great experience.

Huge thanks to Jiné and the YMCA Camp Chingachgook team for the constant warm welcome and meaningful work!
